We offer precise insights for product development and safety assurance, from quality control to nutritional analysis. Let’s collaborate!

Prairie Tide provides a robust suite of testing for Food and Beverage products and ingredients, including alcoholic beverages, for manufacturers, processors, ingredient suppliers and retailers. Prairie Tide offers a full range of testing and analysis for food products covering a wide range of parameters to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.

We issue verified Certificates of Analysis to meet supply chain and regulatory requirements for food processors and manufacturers.

Our Food Testing & Analysis Suite For Ingredients, Finished Food Products, and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Includes:

NUTRITIONAL ANALYSIS + NUTRITIONAL LABELLING

Determining the nutritional content of foods, including macronutrients (e.g., protein, fat, carbohydrates), micronutrients (e.g., vitamins, minerals), and dietary fiber.

ALLERGEN TESTING

Detecting the presence of common food allergens such as peanuts, tree nuts, gluten, soy, milk, eggs, fish, and shellfish to prevent allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.

MICROBIOLOGICAL TESTING

Assessing microbial contamination levels to ensure food safety and prevent foodborne illnesses caused by pathogens such as Salmonella, Escherichia coli (E. coli), Listeria monocytogenes, and Campylobacter.

MYCOTOXIN ANALYSIS

Screening for mycotoxins produced by fungi (e.g., aflatoxins, ochratoxin A) that can contaminate crops such as grains, nuts, and dried fruits, posing health risks if consumed in high concentrations.

HEAVY METAL ANALYSIS

Testing for the presence of heavy metals (e.g., lead, cadmium, mercury) that may contaminate food through environmental pollution or industrial processes, which can accumulate in the body and cause health problems.

PESTICIDE RESIDUE ANALYSIS

Monitoring residues of pesticides and agrochemicals used in agriculture to ensure compliance with maximum residue limits (MRLs) and minimize consumer exposure to harmful chemicals.

FOOD ADDITIVE ANALYSIS

Verifying the presence and concentration of food additives (e.g., preservatives, colorants, flavor enhancers) listed on product labels to ensure regulatory compliance and consumer safety.

QUALITY PARAMETERS

Evaluating various quality parameters such as moisture content, acidity, pH, texture, color, and flavor to assess product freshness, consistency, and overall sensory attributes.

COMPOSITION

Quantitative and qualitative analysis of key nutrients, additives, contaminants, and other constituents.

AUTHENTICATION + ADULTERATION TESTING

Confirming the authenticity of food products and detecting any adulteration or substitution with inferior or unauthorized ingredients.

What is a Certificate of Analysis?

A certificate of analysis (COA) for food products and ingredients is a comprehensive document that provides detailed information about the quality, safety, and composition of a specific food item. A COA must be issued by an accredited laboratory and contains test results obtained through rigorous analysis of the food sample.

These results cover various parameters including microbiological, chemical, and physical properties, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and confirming the product’s suitability for consumption.

The COA serves as a vital tool for verifying the presence of essential nutrients, detecting the absence of harmful contaminants, and maintaining quality assurance throughout the food supply chain. An up-to-date verifiable COA is required regularly by industry – often on per batch basis, or at regular time periods.

Nutritional Labeling

Nutritional labelling services for food products involve the meticulous analysis and documentation of the nutritional content present in the product. This process includes testing for macronutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, as well as micronutrients like vitamins and minerals.

Nutritional labelling provides detailed information on the calorie count, nutrient composition, and recommended serving size of the food item.

Prairie Tide can both create and test against existing published nutritional labels that are CFIA and USDA compliant.
